Guilt-Free Grilling Just because the grill is fired up doesn’t mean your diet is out the window! The grilling season opens up new possibilities for enjoying the flavors of an outdoor summer party, without calorie guilt or weight gain. Try these delicious veggie and fruit grilling ideas:

  • Pre-boil corn on the cob until just tender, then grill until there are charred marks all around. This provides a flavor that is unobtainable any other way. (You won’t even miss the butter!)
  • Mix a variety of veggies and fruits on skewers. Try bell peppers, mushrooms, onion, cherry tomatoes, zucchini slices, peach and nectarine slices, pineapple chunks, and whole strawberries. Brush the skewers with low-sodium soy sauce or lemon juice.
  • Wrap a whole banana, skin and all, in foil and set on the shelf of the grill for 10 minutes for a soft, warm, sweet dessert.

With the bounty of fresh fruits and veggies available this time of year, it’s easy to fill your plate with lots of low cal servings.
