Exercise: How Much is Enough?

The answer depends on the outcome you desire. The government came out with recommendations for Americans to exercise 30 to 90 minutes per day. How much moderate activity you do, like walking, depends upon your goals:

  • 30 minutes a day
    To prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and other diseases
  • 60 minutes a day
    To prevent weight gain and enjoy additional health benefits
  • 60 to 90 minutes a day
    To maintain weight loss and enjoy health benefits

Don’t forget, short PA segments can add up over the course of a day to give you the health and weight benefits you are looking for!
