Pineapple
Grilled pineapple is a perfect summertime treat!

Nutrition Facts:
High in Vitamin C
High in Manganese
75 calories per cup

Selection, Storage and Preparation:

  1. Selection: Your best guide to “ripeness” is a label or tag indicating that the pineapple was jet-shipped from Hawaii.
  2. Preparation: Cut off the leafy crown. Use a knife and halve the fruit lengthwise from bottom to top, and then cut the two halves in half again to form quarters. Slice out the section of core, and then slide a knife between the flesh and rind to free the flesh.
  3. Storage: Pineapple will get somewhat softer and juicier if it is left at room temperature for a day or two before serving.
