HMR regularly collects data from each of its treatment options to evaluate and improve the program. These data allow HMR to report the average results for participants in the program, rather than just anecdotal stories like many other weight-loss programs. HMR also collects data through studies with outside researchers designed to assess different aspects of the program. HMR’s results are shared with program participants and other health professionals, and are published in some of the leading medical and nutritional journals.
On an ongoing basis, we can document the average weight losses and health benefits experienced by program participants. Recent data have indicated that the average weight loss in the clinic-based program is 35–60 pounds, depending upon the treatment option chosen. Those in the HMR at Home® phone support program also lose substantial amounts of weight—an average of 28 pounds—according to another recent study. Many participants in all treatment options lose even more.
HMR also focuses on helping people practice healthy lifestyle behaviors through its maintenance program. A number of studies have followed HMR patients in such maintenance programs.
HMR is committed to research and to advancing knowledge in the field of weight loss and weight management. We are currently involved in over a dozen research studies.
