Let’s Move!

Posted on February 17th, 2010

First Lady Michelle Obama recently announced her ambitious initiative, Let’s Move, to take on the country’s epidemic of childhood obesity. Emphasizing the vital need for a national intervention, a study was published last week linking childhood obesity to dying prematurely before the age of 55. Studies also confirm that childhood obesity puts children at greater risks of all the diseases associated with adult obesity, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and hypertension.

Parents and educators have the opportunity for the most powerful impact on the childhood obesity problem. As role models for our children, it’s important that we understand how our own health habits can help children develop their own knowledge and strategies for growing into a healthy adult.

What do you do to have a positive impact on your children’s health?
