HMR will present a series of posters highlighting the documented health improvements of patients participating in the HMR Program for Weight Management™ at The Obesity Society‘s 2009 Annual Scientific Meeting in Washington, DC. HMR will share the following outcome data:
- Patients with pre-diabetes who lose greater amounts of weight have greater reductions in medical risk factors and medication use.
- Automatic delivery of meal replacements is a useful strategy for participants in a self-care weight management program.
- Obese patients who decrease BMI to overweight range have significant changes in lifestyle and medical risk factors.
- Improvement in medical risk factors for 1,000 patients in ongoing treatment program.
James W. Anderson, M.D., renowned researcher and Chairman of the HMR Medical Board will be a featured speaker at this year’s conference. He will be speaking on a study HMR completed a few years ago which incorporated the use of an obesity medication in maintenance—Assessment of Weight Maintenance at Five Years after Behavioral Weight Loss Intervention. Dr. Anderson will also be presenting two posters: Sequential Changes in Serum Aminotransferases for Obese Individuals with Weight Losses of 25 to 170 lbs. in Low-energy Diet Program and Weight Loss with a Behavioral Program Using Meal Replacements, Fruit and Vegetables: a 24-week Randomized, Controlled Trial.
The conference is the event of the year for obesity professionals. The meeting brings together the leading players in the field of obesity from world-renowned basic and clinical researchers and clinicians to educators, advocates, policy shapers, and practitioners.
